SCOPE OF POSITION:


The Infection Preventionist & Clinical Educator leads, organizes, and coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control program and offers a comprehensive education model for staff based on evidence based practices, which includes maintaining all aspects of staff improvement initiatives/development activities through planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring community education needs.

The Infection Preventionist & Clinical Educator is a vital part of our nursing team that implements and manages the facility's Infection Prevention & Control Program during infectious outbreaks/pandemics in accordance with current rules/regulations/guidelines, monitors infection control practices/procedures to ensure all personnel are following standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/bodily fluids, and develops/maintains/updates infection control precautions and techniques.

This position also assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of written plans of care for each client/resident involving infection control.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement & education, the Infection Preventionist & Clinical Educator develops, evaluates, and oversees the new hire orientation process, provides regular follow-up for new hires during their 90-day orientation period, makes rounds to the different departments/units, develops educational programs that reflect the mission/vision/values of the facility, collaborates with the Director of Nursing along with the Health Resource Supervisor to develop and offer continuing education for staff, and actively participates in Quality Assurance measures to improve clinical quality.

Must be able to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position and the facility.


Typical qualifications:


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Must possess a current, valid, unencumbered New Hampshire LPN license; RN preferred.
  • Three (3) years Long Term Care experience; and
  • Three (3) years Infection Control experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Infection Preventionist Certification required or ability to obtain certification within three (3) months from position start date.
