**Head Cook**The head cook plans camp menus, orders and prepares food, and distributes food to units. This individual supervises the kitchen staff and volunteers, and plans and implements dining-hall procedures. Coordinating with the camp director to ensure that menus meet Girl Scout and ACA guidelines, the head cook works within the assigned budget to order food items. The head cook must be comfortable planning menus and cooking for large groups, and have knowledge of nutrition. Excellent supervisory and communication skills are required, as is current Safe Serve certification and training in food-service management.

**Position Summary:**
Plan menus, orders and prepare food, and distribute food to units. Supervise kitchen staff and volunteer helpers. Plan and implement dining hall procedures. Coordinate the menu with the Camp Director in accordance with Girl Scout and ACA guidelines.
**Essential Duties:**
Plan menus and order food.
Manage food budget and invoices to stay within budget.
Ensure timely arrival of food supplies.
Prepare and pack out food for units for cookouts. Oversee menus.
Prepare and serve meals with assistance from kitchen staff and volunteer helpers.
Supervise Kitchen staff.
Maintain Kitchen, food storage and dining area to meet ACA standards and state health laws.
Monitor and maintain freezer and refrigeration temperature levels.
Unpack, inventory and store deliveries.
Maintain accurate records, including evaluations of feasibility of menu for future reference.
Submit reports promptly to Camp Director
Complete appropriate end-of season reports and procedures.
Attend and participate as required in pre-camp training, as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned to meet the Councils goals
**Education/Certifications:**
Current Safe Serve Certification
Training in food service management
**Knowledge and Experience:**
Ability to plan menus and cook for large numbers of people.
Knowledge of principles of nutrition and menu planning.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work with food service equipment and maintain a safe and orderly kitchen.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and supervise kitchen staff.
Ability to carry out ordering of food supplies before and during the camp season.
**Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:**
Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).
Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Minimum age of 21 due to insurance requirements for driving company vehicles.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.
Valid Drivers License
Insurable under the Councils policy for driving and proof of personal vehicle insurance.
Live at camp and work 24 hours a day during the camp season, following the summer camp schedule
Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with staff, parents, girls, and volunteers.
A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.
