    Description

    Summary:

    Reporting to the Assistant AD for Communications/PR, the Assistant Director for Athletic Communications assists with the publicity efforts of the University's NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports and also helps oversee the athletic department's web page, social media accounts, press releases and statistical records.

    Primary sports information contact for sports as assigned. Night and weekend work required as needed.


    Work Performed:
    Media and Public Relations. Designated primary contact for all local, regional, and national media outlets. Coordinates all interviews for coaches and staff for assigned sports. Supervise and approve content posted on all program/department social media accounts for assigned sports. Produce content and develop program media guides and other printed materials for assigned sports. Schedule and produce video content for distribution for assigned sports.

    Website. Oversee and assist in planning all content published on Conduct routine general website maintenance and enhancements.

    Statistics and Program Records. Management and distribution of Live Stats and StatCrew/Genius files for all assigned events. Maintain and update program record books for assigned sports.

    Gameday/Event Operations. Oversight of gameday media staff both part-time and full-time staff. Management of press box and table at select events. Coordinate execution of gameday scripts and PA reads with Marketing. Manages scoreboard operations at select sporting event. Scheduling and management of gameday staff both part-time and full-time staff.

    Design Elements and Graphics. Collaborate and design all published content, promotional materials, and social media graphics for assigned sports.

    Supervisor Responsibility: 30-60 assorted part-time and game day staff, work study students and interns.

    Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education. Bachelor's Degree

    Experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).

    Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

    Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

    Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic. 1-3 years' experience in a related field strongly preferred. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) strongly preferred.

    Because all people are made in God's divine image, they possess full dignity and are worthy of respect.

    Human Sexuality

    Matthew 19:
    [God] . . . made them at the beginning 'male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'[.] Sexuality is one of the ways the marriage covenant between a husband and a wife is sealed and expressed. Marriage is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards and the means for the procreation of the human race. All forms of sexual intimacy that occur outside the covenant of heterosexual marriage, even when consensual, are distortions of the holiness and beauty God intended for it. The promotion or practice of a homosexual lifestyle (including same-sex dating behaviors) is also contrary to the university's core values. The promotion of transgenderism fails to uphold the university's core values.

    Deuteronomy 6:6-7a . . . these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children . . .

    Matthew 28:
    make disciples of all the nations . . . teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you . . . Christianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence . . . All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. The new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge.

    Moreover, the cause of education in the Kingdom of Christ is co-ordinate with the causes of missions and general benevolence, and should receive along with these the liberal support of the churches.

    An adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for Christ's people.
