    Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.

    Charleston Southern University seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service.

    They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.


    Qualifications:
    Ph.
    D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field. The successful applicant will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.

    The criminal justice program at Charleston Southern University provides both traditional and online classes and seeks a candidate who possesses superior teaching skills, the ability to relate educational and practical experience and to integrate faith into instructional materials and classroom discussion.


    Responsibilities:
    The typical teaching load is 24 credit hours per year (12 each major semester). Teaching duties will include both undergraduate and graduate Criminal Justice courses. Additional duties will include advising, participating in scholarly activities, and university/community service. Participation in departmental meetings, trainings and other tasks (as assigned by the chairperson) are also required.

    The successful candidate will be committed to integrating the Christian faith into his or her teaching and scholarly activities, and advancing the Christian mission of the University.

    Statement of Purpose

    Cha Charleston Southern University is an independent comprehensive university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. This suburban coeducational institution with liberal arts and professional curricula offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

    The South Carolina Baptist Convention founded the institution in 1964 as the Baptist College at Charleston. The campus is located 16 miles from the city of Charleston within the city limits of North Charleston. The institution changed its name to Charleston Southern University in 1990 to reflect the offering of graduate programs.

    The historical account of Genesis decrees that He is the personal and direct Creator of all that exists, including the first human beings Adam and Eve.

    John 14:6 "Jesus said to them, `I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.'" God made provision through Christ for the redemption of sinful humanity by His substitutionary atonement on the cross, and He alone is sufficient as Savior.

    John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Salvation involves God's gracious redemption of individuals and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior by repentance and faith.
