- Review and negotiate contracts according to internal policies and processes
- Communicate with clients, consultants, and attorneys during negotiation process
- Provide recommendations and revise agreements as needed
- Manage contract documents and provide updates to administration
- Ensure compliance and track contract status
- Review agreements for language and grammar
- Collaborate with legal counsel and other teams to monitor projects
- Analyze agreements and recommend changes or new forms
- Maintain positive client relations during negotiation
- Resolve conflicts in negotiation process
- Handle insurance-related responsibilities for the firm
- Manage state registrations and business licenses
- Must have worked on AEC contracts and on large commercial project while also worked on smaller residential projects
- Previous experience working on large volume of contracts is required
- Law degree is required
- 12+years of related work experience and has been a legal counsel for a company of more than 300+ employees (familiarity with AIA documents and contracts is a plus)
- Clear and concise written, verbal and email communication skills are required
- Intermediate user of Outlook, Word and Excel preferred
- Able to independently manage time and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines
- Able to maintain a high level of discretion with confidential information

The firm's work can be found across the globe, with projects as wide ranging as huts to high rises, homes for art collectors, academic institutions, cultural and civic projects, museums and exhibition design, places of worship, creative work spaces, urban planning and interior and landscape design.
The position of Director of Legal Affairs is a full-time position with a full benefits package including commuter subsidy; up to sixteen days of paid vacation and personal days, and nine paid holidays; 100% employer-paid employee medical insurance, life insurance, and disability and long term care insurance; as well as a menu of employee-paid benefit options for self and family members. In addition, the company offers a generous retirement plan. Job Summary The Director will be responsible for the overall legal and be the in-house counsel at the firm.
