    Description

    Position: Lead Data Engineer

    Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid)

    Duration: 6+ Months potential contract to hire

    Work Setup: Hybrid

    Worker Type: Only W2 candidate

    Responsibilities:

    • Guide and mentor engineering team(s) in all aspects of our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
    • Develop and maintain software supporting a streaming data platform for a top-tier healthcare CRM product
    • Contribute to software projects utilizing Python, Scala, NodeJS, and SQL
    • Work with various data stores, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and real-time messaging queue systems like Kafka
    • Utilize SQL for analyzing healthcare and marketing data sets
    • Refactor and optimize existing codebase for enhanced efficiency and performance
    • Provide support to technical support team and address ad-hoc queries
    • Ensure performant and scalable data pipelines
    • Ensure consumption layers and platform APIs meet end users' requirements
    • Collaborate within a small team to devise and implement innovative solutions for business needs
    • Plan, refine, execute, and review work following agile software development methodologies

    Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in a leadership or managerial capacity with direct reports
    • Solid grasp of software engineering principles, programming methodologies, and software development life cycle
    • 9+ years of SQL querying experience for data analysis and reporting
    • 9+ years of Native Python coding experience
    • Proficiency in additional scripting languages is desirable
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, utilizing git and Jenkins
    • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based services like Amazon Web Services
    • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, or writing effective tests
    • Understanding of enterprise scalability requirements
    • Effective prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines
    • Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues on policies, processes, and best practices
    • Ability to translate concepts into technical designs and lead technical design sessions

    Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
