Description
Educational Talent Search (ETS) provides students with the necessary support services to pursue a higher education. Our goal is to ensure that scholars are ready for college, with as many post-secondary options as possible.

ETS is a federally funded TRIO program designed primarily to assist low-income and potential first-generation college students with enrolling and preparing to succeed in college, at the following Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) schools: Anaheim High School, Katella High School, Loara High School, Magnolia High School, Savanna High School, and Western High School.


  • Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Academic Coordinator will develop and implement programs and services to ensure ETS Scholars meet established objectives, including field trips, workshops, academic advising, summer programs, and staff training. The Academic Coordinator works with the Director to coordinate staffing needs and adjustments. Throughout the academic year, the Academic Coordinator guides the development and implementation of a College Success Plan for each Scholar, including Plans of Action for Scholars who are struggling to meet established expectations. The Academic Coordinator attends the College and Career Access Team (CCAT) and other School Site meetings and develop the necessary relationships and connections to ensure collaborative, integrated, smooth, and efficient delivery of services. The Academic Coordinator also serves as the onsite supervisor of College Student Advisor and conduct performance evaluations with each of their assigned team members. Based on program needs and the discretion of the ETS Director, the Academic Coordinator will support services of one or more grants at one or more target schools and may be assigned to coordinate special projects as their caseload allows.

Essential Duties:


  • Recruit eligible participants in grade levels from eight through twelfth for Educational Talent Search.
  • Identify and provide age appropriate personal, academic, financial, and career guidance services for participants in grades nine to twelve.
  • Collaborate with ETS staff in development and implementation of the total curriculum of educational and career advising services for participants within the targeted schools to achieve program objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a partnership with high school administration, counselors, and ETS scholar stakeholders to promote college readiness.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor ETS college staff members to understand how to best serve lowincome or firstgeneration ETS scholars.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of student academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all program activities and services for participants.
  • Support in the scheduling, organizing, and chaperoning of all educational or career related field trips for participants.
  • Promote and provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working with students and educational programs.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience managing caseloads, advising students, or academic coaching.
  • Experience conducting workshops or group advising.
  • Experience in the implementation of academic support/enrichment programs, such as academic advising, desired.
  • Experience working with lowincome students, potential firstgeneration college students, or students with disabilities.
  • Training on retention issues in higher education.
  • Experience working with parents/guardians of high schoolaged youth, desired.
  • Training in advising high school students, desired.
  • Experience advising TRIO project participants, desired.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in documentation of services, desired.
  • Knowledge of offcampus community service agencies, desired.
  • Experience with social media communication and virtual content delivery, desired.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and work with partners within campus, the schools, and external community.
  • Experience providing or overseeing academic support, such as tutoring and helping students prepare for college.
  • Proficiency working with computers, Microsoft Office, and databases.
  • Valid California Driver's License and proof of current automobile insurance coverage.
  • Ability to travel to school sites, community locations, and events.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish desired.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience overcoming disadvantages of circumstances like those of the population of the target area.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop academic success of students.
