    CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

    CASA's mission to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant Communities. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary.

    DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

    The Education Department supports CASA's multi-generation approach to education through engaging youth and their families as a whole in the attainment of educational opportunities for all. All across its footprint, CASA partners with, initiates, and fosters strong relationships between public school systems and parents, and oversees CASA's efforts to improve educational outcomes for immigrant students and their families through coordinated interdepartmental efforts within CASA. The department also supports CASA's expanding education policy work in strategic partnership with CASA's Department of Politics & Communications.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This person will administer activities related to developing, coordinating, and evaluating training programs, outreach projects, and client technical assistance initiatives delivered through the partnership with Clean Energy Center at Penn College.

    This person is responsible for leading comprehensive planning and implementation of program recruitment, enrollment, training and events, projects, and technical assistance activities, including working closely with program managers to cultivate relationships with employers and partner organizations. State-wide travel is required as part of this role.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Lead the planning and coordination of the Building Green Futures program.

    Outreach Coordination

    • Assist with strategic partnership planning and implementation of outreach efforts to recruit and retain workers for the program area.
    • Develop and implement strategies to grow workforce participation in underserved populations and/or for individuals underrepresented in the clean energy sector, such as women, BIPOC, and working-age youth.
    • Work with the marketing team, Program Manager staff, and vendors to develop high-quality, engaging content to support outreach and recruitment efforts (e.g., visual images, videos, and other shareable marketing pieces).
    • Develop, upgrade, and distribute workforce outreach materials and best practices to clean energy employers.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of best practices in workforce retention strategies to support clean energy employers and the Center's incumbent worker programs.
    • Plan and conduct program graduation celebrations, job fairs, and other meaningful opportunities to connect unemployed program trainees with jobs, career pathways, and further educational opportunities.

    Training Coordination

    • Plan and coordinate logistics of program courses and events with CASA in PA, including traveling to sites to assist instructional staff with set-up and coordination.
    • Oversee the creation and management of program, course, and student information.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot the overall training program and instructional schedule.
    • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience's training needs.
    • Identify, order, and maintain an inventory of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment for programs.
    • Prepare and provide course materials and learner information to instructors before the start of in-person courses.
    • Lead coordination of training room set-up, break-down, and catering arrangements.
    • Lead tracking and management of learner progress and troubleshooting in the Learning Management System for program success.
    • Actively manage program registration and coordination with program participants, including communication and case management before, during, and after program courses and events.
    • In conjunction with the instructional design team, lead the development, review, and maintenance process for program content.
    • Manage the tracking and reporting for program participation and data in regards to various funding source objectives.
    • Evaluate and assess training programs for quality of content and instruction and seek trainee feedback on opportunities for improvement.
    • Perform or assist in creating and improving curriculum, including laboratory training mock-ups.

    General

    • Maintain strong working relationships with clients and funding agencies for continued cooperation and coordination of projects and to assess and address training and project needs.
    • Coordinate with CEC Program Coordinator for ongoing program development.
    • Coordinate with other CASA Workforce Development staff for ongoing support of clients as necessary. Maintain updated and complete data within training management and shared file systems.
    • Represent CASA and the PA WAP through the Building Green Futures program in community, industry, and professional organization functions.
    • Maintain memberships and involvement with professional organizations and keep current with trends in adult education and training issues.
    • Field and answer questions from the public related to Building Green Futures programs.
    • Assist in developing additional training programs to enhance and complement existing program offerings.
    • Collect data for reports to clients and as required by grant funding agencies.
    • In coordination with managers, write proposals, generate contracts, initiate invoicing procedures, track payment, and assist in maintaining budgetary accountability for programs.
    • Assist in organizing and participating in or presiding over team meetings associated with the program's operational improvement.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 2 years experience in a project/event coordination environment.
    • Must have reliable transportation and a valid US driver's license.

    • Training program development and oversight.
    • Experience working with organizations that support social justice initiatives that serve systematically marginalized and underserved communities and/or underrepresented individuals in the building performance sector, such as people of color, women, veterans, opportunity youth, returning citizens, migrants, and more broadly, socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals.
    • Supportive of CASA's mission and able to communicate the value of the mission.
    • Positive work attitude, ability to motivate others, commitment to customer service, results orientation, teamwork and collaboration.
    • Demonstrated superior ability to successfully deal with various assignments simultaneously to manage multiple priorities and prioritize work based on changing needs.

    • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision, including anticipating and resolving routine and more complex problems and operational difficulties with accuracy and composure and proactively recommending strategies for prevention.
    • Analytic ability to handle administrative details with limited supervision and little verification where errors are likely to impact customer service, organizational goals, or finances substantially.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of course development processes and at least one Learning Management System.
    • Demonstrated superior computer skills, including Google Workspace and MS Office applications, video conferencing platforms, databases, and electronic information processing.
    • Possess interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, faculty, staff and the public.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to championing diversity and multicultural empowerment.
    • Be sensitive to the needs and expectations of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
    • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with regards to any and all information as a direct or indirect result of job responsibilities/job functions.
    • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner and maintain the standard of care that is appropriate for this position.
    • Experience working with local workforce and economic development organizations desired.
    • Experience in skilled trades workforce and job readiness programs desired.

    • Language proficiency in more than one language is a plus.
