    Description

    A well-established & growing electric utility in Atlanta, Ga. has an immediate opening for a Director of Risk Management – reporting to the VP, Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.

    This newly created position provides a challenging opportunity for a risk management professional to meet a significant corporate need by enhancing the existing Enterprise Risk Management Program

    Primary Responsibilities: Implementing initiatives that will create greater protection for the organization's electrical grid by:

    • Predicting, identifying & preventing corporate operational & financial risk
    • Developing strategies, processes & systems for monitoring, managing & mitigating risk to ensure business continuity

    Ongoing duties:

    • Working with & providing recommendations to the executive team regarding the priority risk management issues – such as strengthening the IT infrastructure to enhance cyber security
    • Conducting analyses to identify internal & external risks & defining the company's operational & physical risk profile
    • Analyzing the company's key risk indicators & conducting 'what-if analyses' to determine the consequences should the identified risks occur – such as damage to the company's infrastructure
    • Performing assessments of the company's risk management procedures to determine whether the existing controls are adequate & proposing enhancements to the existing enterprise risk management system
    • Implementing control systems & contingency plans to protect company assets
    • Maintaining the existing business continuity plan to respond to & mitigate potential disruptions
    • For risks that cannot be avoided, setting acceptable risk levels & developing strategies to keep below the exposure thresholds
    • Monitoring the regulatory developments that may impact the organization's risk profile
    • Working with & training staff at all levels to increase their awareness of corporate risk policy & ensure that procedures are followed
    • Conducting stress tests & audits to verify that existing controls are effective & compliant with regulatory requirements

    Experience & Education Requirements:

    • Ideal candidate will have cyber security & risk management experience in the electric utility or another regulated industry
    • 10+ years of risk management experience with a technical understanding of risk management methodologies & maturity models
    • Experience with:
    • Risk assessment & maturity models
    • Auditing & reporting procedures
    • Implementing risk monitoring & testing procedures
    • Industry compliance standards & regulations
    • Bachelors – Cyber Security, Risk Management, Business, Finance, Accounting or IT
    • Risk management certification - preferred

    Compensation & Benefit Package:

    • Up to $200,000 base starting salary - dependent upon experience
    • Annual bonus potential of 25% of base

    • Hybrid work schedule - 3 days in office
