- Provide oversight to ensure the safety and well-being of youth in shelter
- Handle routine situations that arise, assist customers in contacting and connecting with resources
- Monitor and help support the development of daily living skills
- Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling
- Assist customers with scheduling appointments and recreation/social activities; may provide transportation as needed
- Ability to establish/maintain relationships and to work effectively with assigned individuals
- Demonstrate good judgment and an ability to assess and de-escalate situations
- Professional manner and display good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness
- Model appropriate problem resolution and living skills
- Acceptable ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position including readily negotiating stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, walking for long periods of time with intermittent breaks and transporting
- A High School Diploma or equivalent; and 12 months related experience in the area of human services OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Valid NYS Driver's License with driving background within policy, and access to a reliable, properly insured vehicle for reimbursed travel and transport

Job DescriptionOCO's Crisis & Development Services assist people in gaining safety, self sufficiency and personal growth through prevention, intervention and skill building services. This position provides direct assistance to consumers living in a homeless shelter.
DUTIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Grade 8
Sunday - 8 am to 4 pm
Monday - 4:30 pm to Midnight
Tuesday - 4:30 pm to Midnight
Wednesday - 3:30 pm to Midnight
Thursday - 6 pm to Midnight
