    Family Resource Center Coordinator


    DEPARTMENT:

    REPORTS TO:
    Senior Early Childhood Director


    SALARY RANGE:
    $75,000-80,000


    DATE:
    August 2023


    HOURS:
    8:00am-4:00pm / 10:00-6:00pm. Late evenings and occasionally Saturdays are required


    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Family Resource Center (FRC) aims at meeting the parenting, educational, and wellness (physical, mental & financial) needs of families in the communities served by Grand Street Settlement in the Lower East Side and Brooklyn.

    We provide these services in collaboration with internal and external partners.

    Integrated within the Early Childhood Program, the Family Resource Center supports the provision of comprehensive family services to ensure families are accessing benefits, recreational, educational, and community resources for the entire family.


    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
    Master's in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or a related field; licensed Social Workers preferred; or
    Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience;

    Related work experience preferably in a nonprofit setting and/or in higher education, with counseling, academic, and/or career advising/community development experience with diverse community populations.

    Evidence of progressive managerial and supervisory responsibilities.

    Demonstrable knowledge of adult learning, family development, learning, and leadership theories; possesses an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a diverse campus community.

    Ability to work well in a time-sensitive, dynamic, family-centered and responsive office.
    Proficiency and working experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and other software typically used in an academic environment.
    Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; analytical, critical thinking, planning and problem solving skills are essential.
    Flexibility to work evening hours and most weekends (alternative Saturdays and Sundays).


    PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:


    Successfully clear; NYS DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry Clearance, Sex Offender Registry Clearance, three (3) reference checks, physical examination with updated TB test, Tdap, MMR, varicella (fees may apply).

    Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start performance standards.

    Mandated Reporter training certificate (every 2 years) and comply with agency's policy and procedure regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect.

    Obtain First Aid/CPR and Preventive infectious diseases certificate within the first year of employment.
    Meets all health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start Performance standards.
    COVID-19 vaccine recommended


    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
    The Family Resource Coordinator chief responsibilities fall within the following core functions:

    Lead the planning and implementation of family services including parenting, education, workforce, financial, recreation, and wellness opportunities in collaboration with internal and external partners
    Lead efforts to promote the services provided by the center to engage families in programming available through the center and the agency's programs and referring families and partners to our programs
    Establish an advisory group made up of internal and external partners and community members to inform the development and implementation of services
    Support the integration of the agency's Benefits Enrollment program into all aspects of the center and the Early Childhood program to ensure families are benefiting from all available resources including health, mental health, job training and placements, internships, and financial resources
    In partnership with the Early Childhood program leadership support the design, implementation and oversight of the provision of services and activities that support parent-child relationships and child development including language, dual language, literacy, and bi-literacy development
    Develop trusting and welcoming program environments that incorporate the unique cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds of families in the program and communities served by the agency
    Promote children's learning and development through innovative and evidence-based approaches that builds on parents' knowledge and offers parents the opportunity to practice parenting skills to promote children's learning and development
    Develop and implement parenting support groups to enhance social support network to advance families wellbeing and wellness
    Collaborate with the Early Childhood team in planning and implementing prenatal care programming including birth classes, breastfeeding groups, mommy and me groups during hours that are convenient for families including evenings and weekends
    Develop community-based resources and collaborations to enhance the services provided to families, attend community events and outreach activities, and promote the center's services in the communities served by the agency
    Design and oversee the implementation of family services using a family-centered and trauma-informed approach in meeting the needs of families and children
    Maintain proper documentation for reporting and tracking purposes to ensure the center is meeting its goals and outcomes
    Support special events, new initiatives, and innovative programming through partnerships with funders and research institutions
    Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
