    Description

    Job Summary:

    • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, incorporating age-specific considerations.
    • Assume clinical leadership and relief charge duties as needed
    • Follow all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
    • Assist with special tests and procedures as necessary
    • Become a preceptor and evaluate new personnel upon completion of preceptor training
    • Report and institute emergency measures for sudden changes in patients
    • Communicate clinical findings and administer medication, including IV medication, in accordance with the Seven Rights
    • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and their families
    • Encourage patient participation in their own care

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program
    • Current RN license in New Mexico or in a state with a reciprocal agreement
    • CPR/BLS certification for healthcare professionals or professional rescuers
    • Nationally certified in area of specialty preferred
    • PALS and TNCC/ENPC certifications preferred
    • Ability to lift pounds and continuously exert physical force as necessary
    • Comfortable working with bio-hazardous materials and chemicals
