    PositionOverviewUnder the direction of the Executive Director, the Principal oversees the day-to-day execution of the school's academic program.

    As amember of and in collaboration with theAcademic Leadership team, the principal ensures themission and core values of ElColegio are infused throughout all daily activities of the high school.

    The Principal is responsible for the supervision of all high school instructional faculty, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, and promoting an Ethnic Studies framework in all High School programming and coordinate assessments, andmonitoring students' academic performance.


    Responsibilities of the PositionThe principal is responsible for:

    Academic leadership Serve as the lead for the schools professional learning community, promoting deep learning and reflection to drive instruction Mentors faculty and ensures that teaching is at all times intentional, culturally appropriate, engaging, and rigorous.

    Responsible for teacher evaluation, including engaging in 5-minute walkthroughs and classroom observations Oversee teacher improvement plans when appropriate Co-teach when necessary Ensures the academic schedule meets the needs of students Coordinates the administration of all assessments and the timely and accurate data entry of scores Prepares and facilitates data retreats with faculty to analyze test results and academic performance Reviews report cards for accuracy in academic entries.

    School Climate Provide leadership in sustaining a safe environment with trauma-informed practices Advocate and grow a community-centered environment amongst alls staff and students which fosters pro-social communication and asset-based language Be a constant presence around the building and the hallways to build familiarity and rapport with students, especially during arrival and dismissal times Collaborate with families and community members, responding to diverse interests and needs Mobilize community resources and partnerships to enrich student learning and developmentAdministration Provides regular reports and updates to the Executive Director in addition to theLeadership team as a whole Supervise all teaching faculty and school counselor Coordinate substitute teachers and special assignments as necessary Monitors and ensures compliance with the high school budget, including reviewing all purchase requests and procurements for teachers Serve as the point-of-contact for Center for Academic Excellence, Code Savvy and other academic program partners Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director Student Engagement Workwith and refer students to the Student Engagement Specialist for behavior and/or academic interventions.

    Workwith teachers to ensure their curriculum intentionally has time built in to build and develop authentic relationships with their students.


    Ensure teachers practice the three E3 Rs:
    Relationship, Relevancy, and Rigor

    QualificationsCandidates must have:

    A culturally responsive leader, able to work both independently and as part of a team A demonstrated record of elevating student achievement A strong understanding of culturally-affirming pedagogies and practices Minimum 3 years of experience teaching in amiddle school setting 2 years of experience as Lead Teacher and/or Instructional Coach Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations Knowledgeable in student assessments and data analysis Must be able to travel for conferences and events when appropriate Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English Experience andwell-versed in Ethnic Studies is an absolutemust Experience creating, establishing, andmaintaining sustainable systems to support school culture, engagement,Skills/TraitsCandidates must: Possess significant self-awareness and self-motivation Be relentless in their pursuit of academic learning and insistent on academic excellence and rigor at all times Be able to foster positive relationships with students and their families, treating both with dignity and respect Be driven to empower students from historically underserved communities Be dedicated to doing whatever it takes to support all students in achieving academic success Demonstrate alignment with the educational philosophy and core beliefs of ElColegio High School Exercise sound judgment and function effectively under tight deadlinesStudent DayThe El Colegio student schedule is from 8:50 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

    Monday-Thursday andFriday from 8:50 a.m.

    2:12 p.m. Teachers are expected to be in the building at8:30-4:30 p.m.
    CompensationThe salary for this position is based on experience and abilities, starting salary is$75,000. School Leaders have the entire month of July off. The El Colegio Board ofDirectors approves annual salary adjustments based on enrollment, retention, and outcomes. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
