Description
Mainframe Programmer / Support (Mid or Senior level)
Location: Hybrid - Seattle, WA (3 days onsite, 100% onsite at the beginning until up to speed)
Contract to Hire - 6 months to hire
This is a position that involves a mix of:
-- Providing Systems support and troubleshooting
-- Engaging in new projects such as development, maintenance, and enhancements
We are looking for individuals who are completely comfortable with the support aspect of the role
This role entails the development and upkeep of PACCAR's Mainframe applications using COBOL, IMS, DB2, and CICS predominantly.
About the Team
"Being a Senior Mainframe Engineer at our company means collaborating with a skilled PACCAR mainframe team that plays a vital role in crucial processes for manufacturing medium and heavy-duty trucks throughout North America.
Job Responsibilities
This role will involve:
- Collaborating with clients to define, design, and propose alternative solutions to adapt to evolving business requirements.
- Assisting clients in troubleshooting reported issues.
- Providing system administration support.
- Being available and willing to work weekends and evenings for on-call duties when necessary.
Required Experience & Skills
- Five years of software engineering experience covering code development, scripting, workflow, and data mapping.
- Five years of mainframe support experience with COBOL, IMS (DB), DB2, CICS, JCL
- Proficiency in computer systems including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to work both autonomously and within a team.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Experience with PACCAR systems would be advantageous
Education (List required and/or preferred education)
- Possession of a four-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
