***: Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Senior and Staff Accountants, as well as overseeing the General Accounting operations of Boston University Medical Group (BUMG) and its consolidating entities. Responsible for accurate and timely issuance of monthly and year-end financial statements and for coordinating and facilitating the completion of the year-end audit. Manages month-end close, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation. Follows established policies and procedures to maintain integrity of general ledger and financial reporting.Position:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
In conjunction with the Accounting Manager, manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure the accurate and timely preparation and issuance of monthly financials statements and supporting schedules.
Responsible for the intercompany billing and settlement process between BUMG and its consolidating entities.
Collaborate with BMC, BMC Health Plan and, Boston University Affiliated Physicians finance teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and tracking of intercompany transactions.
Direct the monthly wire process; including but not limited to: CARE+, HSN, APP and BU payrollEnsure timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for BUMG and its consolidating entities.
Delegate responsibility of the preparation and review of reconciliations prepared by staff and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items and variances.
Coordinate and facilitate the completion of the year-end audit. Act as a liaison to the related departments and outside audit firm in order to facilitate the flow of information and oversee the production of the year-end analysis, reconciliations, financial statements and footnotes
Responsible for the various payrolls supporting the physician groups and for ensuring that employees are only paid through a single payroll.
Standardize and ensure proper documentation of general accounting policies, procedures and controls. Ensure proper accounting treatment in compliance with current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Work closely with FIS on any changes or upgrades to General Ledger, as well as necessary system maintenance.
Work with other Finance and BMC System departments to streamline processes.
Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars related to healthcare and accounting.
Responsible for recruiting, training, performance management and direct oversight for Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants.
Communicate with Accounting Manager and Senior Director of Finance regarding areas of exposure within the General Accounting office, as well as other Fiscal Service areas.
OTHER DUTIES:
Performs other duties as needed and oversees special projects as assigned
Promotes open communication, team building efforts and collaboration among team members and between departments.
Participates in employee training; actively promotes knowledge sharing within the department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
BA/BS in Accounting or related-degree required. A Master's degree or a CPA is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
As stated above.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with 1-2 years in a supervisory role. Healthcare experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel, and Infor General Ledger System
- Leadership ability to guide, direct and mentor staff and work effectively as a team member.
- Skills in anticipating and accurately predicting the results of alternate courses of action.
- Skills in determining needs, gathering, analyzing and presenting data to provide accurate and timely information for management's use.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
