We are the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), a bustling health city in the heart of Hamburg.

You will be an integral part of a young, interdisciplinary team under the leadership of Dr. Johann von Felden.

The junior research group primarily focuses on patient-oriented and translational research projects in cancer research, with a particular focus on the role of molecular genetic biomarkers in implementing personalized medicine for patients with liver cancer.

We are particularly interested in mechanisms of hepatocarcinogenesis, as well as the identification of molecular predictors as biomarkers for treatment response and improving cancer early detection.

To this end, our working group utilizes state-of-the-art technologies, including gene editing methods, mouse models, next-generation sequencing analyses, and liquid biopsy approaches.


Your tasks will include:

  • Collection and preparation of human blood and tissue samples, continuation of established databases
  • Application or establishment of molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology techniques, including: o Gene transfer with lentiviral vectors (biosafety level S2 according to the Genetic Engineering Act) in cell culture and organ
