- Develops, plans, and implements written safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. (I.e.-OSHA)
- Develops, educates, communicates, monitors, and tracks location safety goals quarterly and annually.
- Identifies location specific safety training needs and develops, educates, and coordinates safety training programs.
- Maintains all safety files and record keeping, including workers' compensation, and provides mandated reporting to OSHA. (Accident reports, forms 301, 300 log, and 300A)
- Participates in corporate safety audits at locations. Responsible for ensuring corrective action is taken on audit/inspection findings.
- Works with Plant Managers, Vendors, and Independent Contractors to install equipment and new process, assess any potential hazards, and coordinate the abatement of those hazards before equipment and process is implemented, including the training of affected employees.
- Coordinates and assist in conducting accident investigations, coordinate the documentation of any hazard abatement/refresher training, and coordinates the education of all affected employees Company-wide. Report all information of injury (s) and illness to state and federal agencies as mandated. (This includes Near-miss reporting and Root Cause Analysis)
- Interacts with OSHA and other regulatory agencies regarding citations, accidents, claims, site visits and audits.
- Organizes and conducts safety meetings and trainings.
- Reports, advises, and consults with Human Resources Manager as necessary to address and resolve any Safety-Related issues.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or at least four (4) years of relevant work experience is preferred.
