Peak North America USis seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our dynamic team based in
Irvington, AL .
The ideal candidate will be a self-driven leader, have extensive knowledge in occupational health, safety and environmental regulations, and a capable problem solver.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Reporting to the Vice President of US Operations key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses for all construction projects, with a focus on identifying and mitigating potential health, safety, and environmental risks associated with industrial construction in the forest sector.
Lead and coordinate site-specific HSE planning and execution, including the development of site-specific safety plans, emergency response procedures, and environmental management plans.
Provide expert guidance and support to project teams, facility safety coordinators, site supervisors, managers and subcontractors on HSE-related matters, including the interpretation and application of relevant regulations and standards include OSHA, the Worker's Compensation Act and other related legislation.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess compliance with HSE policies and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
Coordinate and facilitate HSE training and orientation programs for all employees and subcontractors, ensuring they are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties safely and in compliance with HSE requirements prior to project start.
Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, third-party auditors, and client representatives on HSE matters in both the US and Canada, facilitating inspections, audits, and compliance reviews as required.
Stay informed of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in HSE, and proactively recommend and implement measures to enhance the effectiveness of the company's HSE management systems.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field;
Or relevant red seal trade certification;
Minimum of 10 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in industrial construction and/or the forest sector;
Professional certifications such as CRSP, CSP, or CIH;
A combination of experience and training may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are essential;
Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in both Canada and the US, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively;
Competent planning, organizational, coordination, and time management skills;
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain relationships;
Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with levels of the organization, exhibiting diplomacy and tact;
Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure;
Is proactive, attentive to detail, action oriented, and results driven;
Available to travel to project sites frequently and work extended hours (when required);
Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record;
Possess a valid passport, or able to obtain one, as travel to Canada may be required.
