- Work closely with the VP of Finance to manage, schedule, and oversee daily operations of all accounting departments and functions.
- Work closely with staff to ensure proper accounting methods and policies are practiced and the department meets all deadlines.
- Work with HR to find qualified staff.
- Provide staff training as needed.
- Continually review accounting policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Manage projects using defined project management tools and communication vehicles.
- Develop individuals for future advancement.
- Evaluate business processes.
- Comply with state and federal tax requirements for payroll and sales and use taxes.
- Prepare various management reports and assist in budgeting.
- Selecting and implementing new accounting software
- Support month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate management and a substantial track record as a Controller.
- BS degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and CPA required.
- Must be able to work and interact with all levels of staff management, including with other departments.
- Expert level knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Must be able to make timely decisions and adapt to change.
- Excellent accounting software user with great communication skills
