    Description

    Responsibilities as Responsible Charge Engineer:

    • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and state regulations.
    • Assist in developing policies and practices for the engineering program.
    • Organize work to meet project schedules using VDOT standards.
    • Recommend process and policy improvements.
    • Participate or lead project teams.
    • Manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets.
    • Guide consultants through project development.
    • Complete roadway design tasks using various software programs.
    • Develop designs for transportation projects.
    • Conduct engineering studies and provide technical recommendations.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Experience in civil engineering principles and transportation regulations.
    • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
    • Valid Professional Engineer's license.
    • Ability to coach and train others.
    • Experience with roadway safety, design criteria, and construction methods.

    Additional Considerations:
    Certification as a Project Management Professional.
    BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
    Progressively responsible experience in roadway design and project management.
