***: Under the general direction of the Senior Administrative Director and in collaboration with the Chair, Vice-Chairs, and Medical Directors, the Director of Finance Operations will support the overall financial performance of the department.


The Director of Financial Operations is responsible for managing all activities related to maximizing revenue and financial reporting for clinical and research operations.

They must have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the business operations and decision support systems in a multi-specialty physician practice.

Responsible for financial planning, reporting, analytics, revenue cycle, and budgets for the departments. Oversight of budgeting and clinical operations financials as well as for grants, research, donor accounts and service contracts.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Coordinate and develop monthly performance results compared to plan for each area; identify and direct activities that will result in revenue optimization and expense implications
  • Analyzes trends, and summarizes for leadership review and decision making. Translates data into meaningful, actionable information and provides insight into strategic implications
  • Works with Senior Director on strategic initiatives around faculty recruiting, department growth and business development
  • Serve as primary liaison with BUMG and BMC finance
  • Drafts department's budgets and reports on performance against budget
  • Manage administrative support staff for the department in order to provide an adequate work environment for physicians and other staff
  • Oversee the management of the credentialing activities to optimize turnaround time from initiation to carrier acceptance at the provider level
  • Report actual provider results against contract requirements and make recommendation for corrective actions to achieve desired results
  • Monitor monthly Accounts Receivable reporting and evaluate exceptions to goals to ensure maximum performance, and take immediate remedial actions
  • Identifies needs and problems in relation to attaining goals and objective based on an analysis of information
  • Oversees department research finances, creates reports and presents to Department Chief and faculty on performance
  • Provides support for grant and contract analysts in the Department, including overseeing monthly reconciliation reports for all research accounts;
  • Manages Fund accounts for the Department;
  • Oversees financial approval for all research grant submissions in coordination with the Vice Chair for Research
  • Manages shuttle files and payroll for faculty and staff in the Department.
  • Performs special financial analysts as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of formal training & experience. Masters highly desirable.


EXPERIENCE:

Requires at least 8-10 yrs related experience; prior experience in a healthcare setting setting and in research finances preferred.

A minimum of three years in a management or supervisory position responsible for the ongoing operation.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Proven track record of managing a team to achieve results.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including ability to review quantitative and qualitative data and reach sound, strategic conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of practice reimbursement accounts receivable and practice management systems.
  • Working knowledge of federal and nonfederal research grants.
  • Working knowledge of financial operations and budget planning.
  • Excellent computer skills; knowledgeable of the systems used in the practices.
  • Proven supervisory, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Selfmotivated, analytical individual, who is a proven problem solver.
  • Evidence of strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, direct, train and interact with direct reports and hospital staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and embrace new challenges.
