    The Food Service Aide will maintain safe, accurate and timely staff and patient meal service while ensuring high standards of department sanitation, accurate cashiering and food production. This role provides necessary nutrition to Shepherd patients, helping to facilitate their recovery. This role collaborates with others to create an enjoyable and engaging environment.

    Stocks assigned areas with food supplies.

    Operates cash register in food operations.

    Washes dishes, maintains work areas in clean, safe and sanitary manner.

    Responsible for equipment temperatures, refrigeration and dish machine are taken as instructed and logged. Deviations are reported to a supervisor, correction action noted on log.

    Keeps waste and overproduction to a minimum.

    Workstation is restocked appropriately at the end of meal (silverware rolled, appropriate condiments, etc.)

    Delivers patient trays to the correct patient, verifying patient identity.

    Actively participates in the department's sanitation program by maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner through the shift, cleaning assignments are completed prior to end of shift.

    Practices positive and engaging professional behavior.

    Respects patients privacy and confidentiality with every interaction as per HIPAA regulations.

    Adheres to patient/family centered principles using the communication and engagement tools (OARS/AIDECT).

    Establishes relationships with other ES Aides on a daily basis in order to efficiently complete duties.

    Performs consistent with Shepherd Center standards, clinical policies, and procedures.

    Ensures appropriate usage of supplies.

    Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

    Performs other duties as required/requested/assigned.

    **REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION**

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    **REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION**

    None

    **REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE**

    One (1) year customer service experience preferred. On the job training will be provided.

    **REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS**

    Must be 18 years old.

    Must be able to read, write communicate and understand English.

    Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

    Must be organized, efficient, and able to work independently and/or in a team setting.

    Completes orientation and initial assessment of competency successfully by determined due date.

    Completes mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements by determined due date.

    **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    Serv Safe Certification preferred.

    **PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

    Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

    **WORKING CONDITIONS**

    Normal patient care environment.

    Some potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
