    Description

    CHA has a thriving academic community with strong education, training, and research programs. We take pride in having 700 providers on the faculty at Harvard or Tufts University School of Medicine. The Research Scientist will be in charge of developing their own independent research career and assisting with the day-to-day management of multiple research projects with minimal supervisory input.



    Responsibilities as a Research Scientist specializing in functional MRI:

    • Lead the development and implementation of fMRI protocols, data analysis, and interpretation.
    • Play a critical role in research on the neural mechanisms of mindfulness, compassion, and IFS-based interventions on clinical populations.
    • Provide valuable insights into the impact of mindfulness, compassion, and IFS on brain function.

    Health Equity Research Lab Area Responsibilities:

    • Write and apply for research grant proposals for esteemed organizations like NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, and private foundations.
    • Contribute to peer-reviewed published research manuscripts.
    • Collaborate with Lab staff on research proposals and manuscripts.
    • Participate in ongoing projects, dissemination efforts, and new research project proposals.
    • Present findings at national and international academic conferences.
    • Mentor and supervise students and researchers.

    Center for Mindfulness & Compassion Area Responsibilities:

    • Develop neuroimaging protocols tailored to the study of clinical populations.
    • Lead fMRI data acquisition sessions ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
    • Manage data and perform advanced neuroimaging analysis.
    • Adhere to ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with CMC staff, clinicians, and scientists on proposal and manuscript development.
    • Disseminate findings at academic conferences and mentor students and researchers.

    A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field with fMRI research emphasis is required. Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral research experience, expertise in fMRI experiments, data analysis, and statistical modeling. Proficiency in neuroimaging software and programming languages. Experience working with clinical populations preferred. Demonstrated publication record and ability to lead research projects independently. Eligibility for Instructor or Assistant Professor level appointment at Harvard Medical School.
