- Provide strategic guidance to Service-Disabled/Veteran Owned Business professionals seeking to thrive and navigate the complexities in the government contracting arena.
- Assist clients in navigating procurement processes, regulations, and strategies to help businesses secure and manage government contracts successfully.
- Collaborate with staff and various stakeholders to support and sustain a positive and high-performing culture.
- Responsible for the enhancement of the NVSBC's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.
- Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs.
- Conduct one-on-one consultations with businesses seeking government contracts.
- Assess clients' capabilities and match them with relevant government agencies, prime contractors, and contracting opportunities.
- Assess clients' businesses to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities in government contracting.
- Provide training, resources, and referrals to clients from NVSBC's Body of Knowledge
- Procurement process:
- Guide clients in understanding bid solicitations, proposals, and contract management.
- Market Intelligence:
- Guide clients in analyzing government procurement and industry trends, upcoming opportunities, and competitive landscapes/activities to aid in the strategic decision-making process.
- Guide clients on business development, strategy, and market positioning within the government sector.
- Regulatory & Compliance Guidance:
- Guide clients in understanding and navigating the regulatory landscape and maintaining compliance in their contracting activities.

- Establish and nurture relationships with government agencies, prime contractors, and industry stakeholders.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to stay connected and identify opportunities for clients.
- Stay current/informed with federal government contracting/procurement regulations, compliance standards and government & industry changes.
- Support administrative efforts to capture, maintain, and complete counseling forms, data, demographics, services provided, and outcomes achieved.
- Support the results of the counseling program's impact and effectiveness with key stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations to Counseling Manager and staff for counseling program improvement to meet the needs of SD/VOSB GovCons.
- Uphold all policies and procedures are adopted, understood, acknowledged, and performed by all staff and volunteers.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in government contracting or related field.
- Knowledge of federal government procurement processes
- Strong organizational abilities including time management, planning, and task facilitation.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact effectively with members and customers outside of the organization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, a desire to take on new challenges and ability to deliver results in a rapidly growing, deadline-driven, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with database management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of Tools.
- Transparent, high integrity leadership, solution-oriented, data-informed.
- Master's Degree.
- An understanding of the federal contracting small business community.
- Experience in military, non-profit, government, or private sector.
- 3+ years of telework experience.
- Military or military family experience.
- Must have ability to travel at 5% of time or greater.
- Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000

Job DescriptionSalary: $50,000 - $60,000The National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC) / NVSBC Education Foundation Government Contracting (GovCon) Consultant provides technical assistance to service-disabled and veteran owned small business professionals that serve and aim to serve the government as federal contractors. The GovCon Consultant will partner closely with the Consultant Manager (CM) to achieve the agreed upon strategic goals and response to the ever-increasing demand for the organization's programs and services.
The Government Contracting Consultant will be instrumental in empowering entrepreneurs, driving strategic and economic growth, and fostering excellence in government procurement endeavors. This position requires a deep understanding of the government contracting landscape and the ability to deliver tailored guidance, solutions, and referrals to clients. Individuals must understand the Service-Disabled/Veteran Owned Business ecosystem from business start/entry through mature company needs as well as a thorough knowledge of service providers within the GovCon community.
