    The Value Stream Manager is responsible for achieving annual objectives for safety, quality, delivery and cost of the assigned value stream or defined area.

    Embraces Lean transformation through education of self and direct reports, kaizen concepts and activities, visual management tools, and root cause problem solving.


    The incumbent for this role should have 5+ years of experience in production management and should be bilingual in English and Spanish.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Support the ongoing development of a continuous improvement culture for the Value Stream
    Assist employees in efforts focused on driving employee involvement and empowerment
    Drive operational excellence using Lean tools, best practices, and continuous improvement
    Study existing processes to identify opportunities to drive out waste and improve profitability and process efficiency within the Value Stream
    Provide relevant training and coaching to ensure employees are effective at meeting daily production goals and providing the best product for our customer
    Continuously review and improve operational productivity
    Facilitate problem solving within the Value Stream

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES:
    Possess ability to provide motivation, leadership, communication, and coaching to Value Stream employees
    Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
    Apply effective problem-solving skills as required
    Analytically minded and data-driven
    Possess effective project management skills
    Possess proven track record of creating, implementing, building, and sustaining an effective Value Stream work environment to include good feedback, accountability, and team stability

    Leadership:
    Verifiable experience as a workplace leader who has managed a team in a manufacturing environment
    Prefer three to five years of manufacturing leadership.
    Prefer practical experience in problem solving training, leading teams, Lean manufacturing, and quality improvement processes. Prefer advanced knowledge of departmental technical requirements.
    Daily Activities
    Review, adjust production plan based on previous shift
    Manage production start up
    Post tracking sheets
    Attend shift meeting
    Complete improvement task assignments
    Work on improvement plan
    Update Metrics boards
    Train team members to understand and facilitate daily start-up processes
    Provide follow-up coaching and development, as required, to ensure start-up best practices, including pre-shift safety talk, start-of-shift checklist, review required quality checks and review standard work requirements
    Ensure effective delegation of responsibility throughout the team.
    Provide coaching and feedback as required to rotate responsibility for daily start-up activities among department team members.

    Use Kaizen, decision making, and conflict resolution processes to drive continuous improvement of the daily start-up process, safety check, and all daily KPI monitoring to make sure the Value Stream continues to meet and exceed its daily safety, quality, and production goals.

    Lean Application
    Train team members to facilitate and drive continuous improvement
    Ensure that best practices manage the daily process and provide coaching/feedback on individual growth with and effective use of all lean tools/resources
    Ensure efficient delegation of Lean responsibilities to team.
    Lead Kaizen events and train team members in Lean concepts and application to our organizational culture
    Technical Support
    Possess high level department and process knowledge

    Teach all team members to facilitate and drive continuous improvement in workflow and process throughout the day to ensure that daily goals are met.

    Coach development and maintenance of standard work documentation and reporting so all members are involved in timely and accurate schedule tracking to ensure daily goals are being met.

    Encourage teamwork and cross-training by coaching team members with train-the-trainer techniques and
    Provide consistent feedback on team progress to support individual as well as team growth and development.
    Drive all safety, quality and performance goals for the team and keep all team members engaged every day.
    Communication
    Train and develop team members to ensure that excellent communication skills are practiced throughout the team.
    Coach communication methods and techniques and appropriate use and give feedback on individual as well as team progress.

    Conduct plant tours for customers, suppliers and/or other external visitors and participate in customer or supplier on-site visits as required.

    Share Data and Present Metrics for Value Stream Tracking

    Train/coach team members in the use of Microsoft Tools to manage daily work functions and provide top-level tracking of safety, production, and quality performance of the work area.

    Train/coach members in development and presentation of Power Point presentations to internal and/or external groups to explain department or team safety, quality, and production metrics.

    Safety
    Ensure all Value Stream employees are practicing safe work habits
    Demonstrate knowledge of sound safety practices and provide support and guidance necessary to ensure safety of all team members
    Be able to conduct safety training for team members, and
    Train team members in how to conduct effective safety audits.
    The salary band for this role is commensurate with experience and will be discussed in recruiting process.
