Join us at SUNY Niagara as the Assistant to the Vice President for Special Programs This position is responsible for coordination of initiatives related to special programs in the Office of Academic Affairs, many of which are pre-collegiate activities.

At the direction of the Vice President, this employee is responsible for coordination of Office of Academic Affairs efforts in various areas as needed.

These include but are not limited to instructional support, academic support for students, and strategic planning.

Typical Work Activities

• Directs all high school-to-college enrollment program initiatives such as the College Acceleration Program (CAP), BOCES articulations, and P-Tech.
• Administers Pre-Collegiate and Workforce Development areas with respect to all non-credit remedial activities through such entities as BOCES and Niagara County Employment & Training Office at Trott.
• Serves as initial student contact for credit for prior learning proposals, Fresh Start, and for student complaints and/or grievances brought to the Office of Academic Affairs.
• Assists with coordination and monitors implementation of academic affairs strategic planning efforts and updates to academic policies and standards.
• Manages academic standing end-of-term processing, probation and dismissal coding, academic appeals, and appropriate referrals to assist at-risk students.
• Monitors and assists with implementation of faculty evaluation system (Smart Evals) for all full‐time and part‐time faculty. Maintains faculty records and student evaluation instruments.
• In conjunction with the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, plans and coordinates orientation programs for full‐time and part‐time instructional faculty.
• Updates CAP faculty and student handbooks as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to relate to navigate relationships with diverse populations; able to manage multiple functions; ability to represent the college's interest within the local community; ability to operate computers; ability to prepare written reports; ability to make oral presentations; ability to physically perform the responsibilities of the position to include local travel; ability to maintain positive relationships among peers, subordinates, and superiors.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, OR Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years full-time experience in higher education administration.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with academic affairs programs and functions, including concurrent enrollment/pre-collegiate programs;
• Experience working at a Community College .
