ABOUT AUSTIN KIDNEY ASSOCIATES
Austin Kidney Associates (AKA) is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care for people with kidney disease.

With 32 board certified physicians and 8 clinical locations, we are the leading organization in Kidney Disease Management within the greater Austin area.

We offer a full spectrum of services, including patient education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical research, with a focus on improving health and quality of life.

In addition, we support patients with end-stage kidney failure with options including in-center hemodialysis, home peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis, kidney transplantation and hemodialysis access procedures.

***: Performs duties under direction of management and/or licensed medical personnel to assist in examination and treatment of patients. Collect data and perform focused nursing assessments of the health care status of individuals in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Obtain, evaluate, and record patient history in medical file
  • Obtain and measure vital signs and record information in patient's charts
  • Assist in the examination of patients under the direction of licensed medical staff
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Complete orders and other assignments per provider instruction
  • Notify patients of lab results and give instructions for continued care as necessary
  • Prepare and administer medications according to the 5 Rights of Medication Administration
  • Review and process prescription refill requests in a timely manner
  • Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including cleaning and inventory of medical supplies and materials
  • Assist in scheduling of patients for various clinics, injections, procedures, and coordinate precertification and authorizations as necessary
  • Maintain quality control logs
  • Assist other team members as necessary
  • Others duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to recognize and respect cultural diversity of patients
  • Serve as the communication liaison between patient and physician; capable of documenting patient communication and clinical treatment accurately and appropriately
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team
  • Able to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations
  • Capable of using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as charts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Maintain compliance with all AKA, OSHA, HIPAA, and federal and state applicable laws, regulations and policies.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:


  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school required
  • Valid Texas RN license required
  • BLS (CPR & AED) certification issues by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • Previous nursing experience in a clinic/outpatient/specialty environment preferred

Pay:
$ $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
