Austin Kidney Associates (AKA) is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care for people with chronic kidney disease.

With 24 board certified physicians and 8 clinical locations, we are the leading organization in kidney disease management within the Austin area.


We are currently seeking an experienced
Health
Insurance Verification and Patient AR Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team This is a unique role and will require time split between the 2 main responsibilities.

Initially you will start at the Business Office located in Austin, and can transition to remote within 3-6 months (contingent upon performance).


Health Insurance Verification:


  • Have thorough understanding of Eligibility and Benefit information and interpret benefit breakdowns
  • Ability to identify coverage issues from returned eligibility responses and further navigate opportunities to make corrections
  • Investigate and determine actions needed to correct COB issues
  • Update patient's Registration with the correct insurance and alert billers of the changes
  • Understand the structure of Advantage Plans and Managed Care Organizations
  • Determine when insurance requires a referral and alert appropriate staff

Patient Accounts Receivable:


  • Communicate with patients over the phone and patient portal to resolve billing inquiries
  • Generate and mail monthly patient statements
  • Provide patients their statements, invoices and receipts upon request
  • Work Patient Aging Report to submit outstanding accounts to collection agency vendor
  • Take patient payments over the phone, and transmit through payment portal
  • Communicate payments received with Collection Agency, when patient is in collections
  • Initiate and maintain patient payment agreements
  • Submit online payment reminders through portal

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Perform other duties, special assignments, projects, etc. which may be assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager or Executive Director
  • Complete work accurately, in a timely manner with great attention to detail Insurance verification and benefit determination

Required for this position:


  • 2+ years' experience of Medical Accounts Receivable
  • Knowledge of insurance billing and reimbursement practices
  • Familiarity with ICD10, CPT4 and HCPCS coding
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook
  • Must be dependable and organized
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
