Description

General Summary:

Under regular supervision, performs various routine laboratory support procedures such as order entry, specimen pick-up, transportation, and processing.
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, including automation, and may provide phlebotomy services if needed.
Interacts professionally with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares patient specimens for testing, focusing on preanalytic and post-analytic processes.
Enters patient information accurately into computer systems, maintaining confidentiality.
Reviews and organizes laboratory request forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Handles specimens with care to protect integrity.
Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment.

Education & Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent required, with strong computer skills.
Preferred experience in a medical laboratory setting, familiarity with medical terminology, and college-level science coursework.
