    SUMMARY

    Responsible for the reconciliation of all revenue collected and processed to ensure that all monies reported from the Authority's automated fare collection system are reconciled in an accurately and timely manner.

    Prepares any necessary financial reports requested by management and special projects as required by management. Write queries in Access, manipulate data using pivot tables, report criteria, etc., and compile monthly, quarterly reports for distribution.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance and three years of directly related job experience. In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Must have excellent quantitative skills. Must have experience with auditing financial transactions and investigating sales transaction irregularities. Incumbent must have a commitment to quality improvement and to strong personal ethics.


    INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reconciles actual currency and coin counts provided by the Revenue Processing unit against the reported revenue from BVM, Bus, Web Ticketing and Parking Booths. Investigates and resolves discrepancies.
    • Maintains an up-to-date database that documents fare box revenue discrepancies by employee, by device, by resolution and action. Reports reconciliation and discrepancy investigations and resolutions to appropriate MARTA financial units.
    • Prepares periodic revenue, sales, and ridership reports for appropriate departments and management.
    • Reconciles and monitors credit/debit sales and activity. Responds to chargeback and retrieval notices and work with Senior Management to recommend credit/debit policies that minimize fraudulent sales transactions. Investigates credit /debit transaction queries submitted by patrons via customer service.
    • Monitors and investigates activities related to fraud, both internal and external, and investigates the details of each instance to satisfy that Authority revenues have been properly safeguarded.
    • Monitors Authority deposit accounts to ensure Revenue Processing deposits have been promptly and accurately credited.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS
    This position requires regular communication with internal staff and regional operators for the purpose of investigating and resolving discrepancies. The position requires the ability to prepare formal recommendations and reconciliation reports and present them in writing and verbally.

    COMPUTER SKILLS
    Administers database information systems, assures the integrity of system data and procedures, and recommends and implements improvements.

    Designs and develops routine and ad-hoc reports using Crystal Reports, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and related database and data presentation programs.

    Performs data analysis using statistical and quantitative methods. Incorporates database queries and reporting tools as appropriate.

    REASONING ABILITY

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Analytical ability that enables the incumbent to perform at a high level of comprehension and reasoning.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding for carrying out detailed processes and/or written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to be resourceful when solving unique problems.
    • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility and competency when working on several tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to follow the logic of data flows, the calculations, and the end results. Will need to know where to look, which application or report to review, and to use these to piece together activities for the purpose of determining whether or not transactions are fraudulent.
    • Ability to make recommendations to block a customer's account and establish new rules to prevent fraudulent activity.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, taste or smell.

    The ability to use hands and fingers is important. The primary equipment for performing job functions is the computer and, to a lesser extent, a calculator. The incumbent is required to lift up to 50 lbs. less than 25% of the time (Occasionally, the incumbent may need to lift money bags or containers). Special vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust and focus. Must be able to read computer interface screens, read data, track data flows, and discern numbers.

    Work is ordinarily performed in a standard office environment.
