    Job Description Summary


    The design engineer is responsible for the mechanical design of Turbine Structures for Large Military Engines derivatives and sustaining hardware.


    As a component design owner, the engineer will contribute to the design and development of Hot Structures hardware that meet integrated requirements of the engine and airframe and is responsible to lead the design through preliminary and detailed design reviews following the DEQ process.


    Additionally, the component design owner will deliver finished part drawings while integrating with our Supply Chain to ensure a robust and producible parts.

    The role will involve working closely with the cross functional team including thermal design, materials, stress and life, manufacturing, systems, and product definition to ensure the part delivers differentiated customer outcomes.

    Further, the design engineer will support sustaining hardware (manufacturing/cost improvement, MRB, SPS).

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

    This work would include mechanical engineering for all products
    Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
    Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

    Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.

    Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
    Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university.
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant engineering discipline.

    Desired Characteristics
    Master's degree in engineering

    In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.

    Strong oral and written communication skills.
    Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to guide and influence others.
    Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
    Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
    Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
    Established project management skills.
