    Description

    Neuroscience Care Coordinator

    We are looking for a skilled Neuroscience Care Coordinator to join our Clinical Neuroscience Center department at UNM Hospitals. As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for ensuring quality care for patients across a range of ages, including Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric. You'll also be responsible for leading the acquisition and clinical operation of multi-modal monitoring equipment. This position requires knowledge of the rapidly evolving multiple modalities, devices, data streams, and software for quantitative and qualitative interpretation within neurosciences critical care. You will be an essential resource for educating and training nurses, residents, techs, and providers on the use of multimodal monitoring equipment.

    • PATIENT CARE: Serve as the technical and clinical expert for invasive and non-invasive neuromonitoring, ensuring organized and accurate patient data is available for clinical decision making
    • CARE PLAN: Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans considering age-specific considerations
    • MEDICATION: Administer medication to patients by following the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
    • EDUCATE: Be the primary resource for training and education of interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, residents, techs, and providers
    • QUALITY: Implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable quality metrics and practice expectations
    • SAFETY: Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols; proactively identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
    • DEVELOPMENT: Stay current with evolving multi-modal monitoring techniques and effectively share knowledge with the care team

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate with a Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Experience: 3+ years directly related experience in epilepsy or neurology such as EMU, NSI, Neuroscience ward, or clinic; 2+ years Neurocritical Care Experience preferred
    • Credentials: Current RN license required, as well as CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support w/in 30 days of position
    • Physical Requirements: Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
    • Working conditions: May be required to travel to various work sites, rotate through work shifts, perform on-call duties, and work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
