Non-ExemptPosition FunctionPreventative Maintenance and comprehensive repairs to a diverse Fleet of automobiles, light trucks, and other various equipment.

Tasks/Duties Perform Preventive Maintenance services to automobiles, light trucks up to 1 Ton in size, trailers, and other various equipment.

Diagnose and repair any defective mechanical components as needed. To include engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes and any accessory components.
Diagnose and repair electronic control systems using laptop based diagnostic software.

To include malfunction indicator light concerns related to engine and transmission controls, body computer, anti-lock brake systems and emissions systems.

Diagnose and repair Tier 4 emission concerns on light diesel engines.
Perform basic repairs to include belts, hoses, lights, wipers and trim components.
Perform tire and wheel services to include rotations, mounting and balancing, flat repairs and tire pressure monitoring systems.
Perform 4-wheel computerized wheel alignments.
Possess basic fabrication and welding skills.

Operate shop tools and equipment to include vehicle lifts, alignment machine, a/c recovery machine, tire changer and balancer machines, digital volt/amp meter and any other basic shop equipment to perform job duties.

Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment at all times.
Drive and operate automobiles, light trucks and various other equipment. Perform field service calls when necessary.
Drive to and from City work sites. Be available for emergency call-outs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Complete required trainings as specified within the City's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in repair and maintenance of automobiles, light trucks and equipment to include operation of power tools, shop and testing equipment, reading interpreting of shop manuals and wiring diagrams.

Valid Class "E" driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment. Basic computer skills and experience with laptop based diagnostic tools and technical data. Ability to use hand held scanners, TPMS tools and electronic charging system testers.
Experience with basic fabrication and welding to include oxy acetylene, MIG welding and plasma cutting. Must have adequate tools to perform mechanical duties.

Automotive Technician I:
One (1) year experience and obtain ASE Certification in one (1) component within one (1) year of employment

Automotive Technician II:
Three (3) years experience and have ASE Certifications in three (3) components

Automotive Technician III:
Five (5) years experience and have ASE Certifications in five (5) components

Automotive Technician IV:
Seven (7) years experience and have ASE Certifications in (8) components

ASE Certifications in Automobile:
