    Main Purpose of Job

    The Maryland Department of Aging seeks a full-time, contractual team member to assist in the coordination and redesign of Long-Term Services and Supports.

    The team member will work across Department programs to facilitate streamlined access to pre-Medicaid and Medicaid long term care and Medicare counseling services and will assist the leadership team to update the state-funded long-term services continuum of care.\r\rThe Coordinator will be part of the team at the Departments of Aging and Health participating in a privately funded 18-month intensive technical assistance process to assist Maryland to better coordinate pre-Medicaid and No Wrong Door services, promote awareness, and develop a quality assurance and sustainability plan that builds provider capacity and reduces wait list times.\r\r
    This is a contractual position with limited benefits.

    POSITION DUTIES
    \rSupporting the State\rHealth Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

    Manager by:
    \r\r\r

    Assisting\r

    constituents experiencing Medicare and Medicaid access challenges.\r

    Becoming\r

    a certified SHIP counselor and cross-training to support the Maryland Access\r

    Point aging and disability resource center.\r

    Create\r

    training materials and deliver training to local counselors.\r

    Providing\r

    technical assistance to local counselors.\r

    Conducting\r

    outreach to raise awareness about Medicaid options for Medicare beneficiaries.

    \r\rNavigating long term\rservice access among current program participants by:
    \r\r\r

    Assisting\r

    state and local Program Managers to identify participants in state-funded\r

    programs that can be prioritized into Medicaid home and community-based\r

    services.\r

    Assisting\r

    in the process of transitioning participants, in partnership with the Maryland\r

    Department of Health.\r

    \r\rAssisting the\rDepartment with its efforts to engage in long term services and support\rtechnical assistance by:\r\r

    Gathering\r

    and disseminating data.\r

    Facilitating\r

    meetings and workgroups with internal staff and external stakeholders.\r

    Drafting system design and policy updates.\r\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate

    \rExperience:

    Four years of administrative staff or professional work

    \rNotes:

    \r1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. \r2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. \r3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. \r4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preference will be given to\rcandidates who have the following skillsets or experience:\rThree (3) years of experience working in an area of health and human services related to Medicaid or Medicare.\rThree (3) years of customer service experience working in a health and human services related area.\rExperience training others and facilitating meetings.\rExperience gathering and disseminating data.

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
    Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

    Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

    BENEFITS

    Contractual employees who work\rfor an agency and have a current employment contract of 30 or more hours a week\r(or on average 130 hours per month) will be eligible for subsidized health\rbenefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
