Recruitment and Retention LeadREPORTS TO: CHIEF OF HUMAN RESOURCESCLASSIFICATION: TEACHER LEADERSHIP
SUMMARY
The Recruitment and Retention Lead (RRL) will work collaboratively to recruit teachers, teacher aides and additional support personnel into Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD). Once new staff are recruited, the RRL will work primarily with onboarding certified staff in addition to induction/transitioning professional learning. They will collect feedback on additional needs from the teacher workgroup and make recommendations to elevate the teacher experience.
RECRUITMENT
Develop and Implement Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Recruitment Strategies:
+ Utilize a variety of sourcing techniques to attract diverse candidates, including targeted outreach, job boards, social media, and community partnerships for all positions
+ Incorporate inclusive language and practices into job postings and recruitment materials
+ Coordinate student teaching program
Source and Screen candidates:
+ Review and source candidates and conduct initial screenings to assess candidate qualifications and credentials based on needs by the hiring managers
+ Create high need list of hard-to-fill positions and immediately interview candidates who qualify for these positions
+ Recruit and hire for vocational / technical openings
Collaborate and Partner:
+ Partner with HR business partners and hiring managers to facilitate inclusive hiring practices and mitigate bias in the selection process
+ Collaborate with external diversity organizations and community groups to expand candidate pipelines and promote employer brand
+ Maintain accurate and organized documentation regarding candidates, searches, hiring managers interactions, and other recruiting activities
+ Efficiently track and record all candidate paperwork
RETENTION
Training and development:
+ Development and delivery of DEI training programs for hiring managers
+ Oversee metrics reporting, retention initiatives, and developing external recruitment relationships with local schools and community organizations
+ Advocate for DEI initiatives within the organization
Career Pathing and Succession Planning:
+ Manage attrition plans in collaboration with district leadership
+ Assist staff in mapping out career paths
+ Identify high potential staff and develop succession plans
Conflict Resolution:
+ Facilitate restorative conversations regarding personnel issues
+ Provide guidance and support to help resolve disputes
+ Establish open communication channels to ensure concerns and feedback are addressed
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Certified staff with standard teaching license, five years of teaching experience, and least three years with CRCSD (FTE release position)
+ Two or more years experience in recruiting and relations with proven strategies and outcomes
+ Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategic plans
+ Advanced sourcing skills and candidate management skills
+ Excellent relationship management skills
+ Ability to influence, negotiate, and proactively drive processes
+ Project development, management, and planning skills
+ Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and solve problems
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Proficiency in Google/Microsoft (Docs, Sheets, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
+ Strong work ethic and a strong sense of urgency with attention to detail
+ Superior customer service skills with the ability to build strong lasting relationships
+ Self-directed and able to work independently
+ Willingness to work in an open, transparent, and collaborative environment
+ Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
+ Ability to travel to universities, conferences, diversity events, and fairs etc.
SALARY
+ 1.0 Full Time Equivalency (FTE)
+ 191 contract days
+ This will be prorated if less than 1.0 FTE
+ Salary is dependent on placement within CRCSD Master Teacher Contract salary schedule
+ $7K of stipend pay for additional summer/evening work

The noise level in the work environment is often quiet but may become loud in large group settings. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that will require the employee arrive and leave as directed and may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. workday. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will be required to work occasionally in outdoor environments.
