    Background

    LifeSci is launching a new long/short fund of a high-profile life sciences group. The fund will be available on the LifeSci Partners platform and is set to debut on June 1, 2024. Within the cohesive ecosystem of 9 distinct businesses, LifeSci Partners offers specialized services to clients in the life sciences sector. In order to assist with data management and idea generation, the investment team is seeking a new team member who will collaborate closely with key decision-makers.

    Currently, the investment team consists of one Chief Investment Officer (CIO). The incoming analyst will have significant room for growth, with the opportunity to expand coverage areas and take on more responsibilities progressively. This role offers substantial compensation potential given the assets under management (AUM) to investment team ratio. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the sciences, financial structures, and operational aspects, and will excel at engaging with management teams, especially focusing on investments in publicly traded companies.

    The responsibilities of the chosen candidate will include identifying new investment prospects, overseeing market research and due diligence processes, potentially serving on boards of portfolio companies when applicable, and influencing the overall growth and operations of the firm. Successful candidates will be strongly aligned with the mission, aiming to leverage their investment expertise to contribute to establishing a prominent presence in the life sciences long/short fund arena. Candidates with a background in biological sciences who can navigate various aspects of the life sciences industry (such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, etc.) are highly desirable. The position offers flexibility in terms of seniority, as it is a Partner-track role.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in biological sciences
    • 3-7 years of research experience in life sciences or equity
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm for stock selection in the healthcare sector
    • Familiarity with a wide range of financial tools and investment structures
    • Effective leadership, project management, and communication skills, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to nurture relationships with various stakeholders
    • Proactive approach, capacity to work independently, and strategic thinking regarding business growth
    • Experience in diverse geographical locations or an interest in and readiness to travel domestically and internationally
    • Openness to embrace periods of intense work and non-traditional working hours to manage the firm's global network of stakeholders and portfolio companies
