    Job Summary:

    • POSSESSES KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NECESSARY TO MEET STANDARDS FOR PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARRT. PRACTICE IS CHARACTERIZED BY A BALANCE OF DEPENDENT AND INTERDEPENDENT DECISION MAKING. COMPETENTLY FUNCTIONS AS A MEMBER OF THE INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM. RECOGNIZES WHEN HE/SHE NEEDS ASSISTANCE AND SEEKS APPROPRIATE RESOURCES.

    Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

    • RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING TECHNICAL EXPERTISE IN PERFORMANCE OF DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHY. AS THE CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR FOR UTHNE RADIOLOGIC STUDENTS, TECHNOLOGIST TRAINS, CORRECTS AND ADVISES STUDENTS REGARDING ALL RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMS AND PROCEDURES.
    • AS THE LEAD TECHNOLOGIST, PROVIDES LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION TO RADIOLOGIC PERSONNEL WHEN NECESSARY. IS AWARE OF AND PLANS ACCORDINGLY FOR ANY AND ALL FLUOROSCOPIC EXAMS, SURGERIES, ETC. WHILE CONSULTING THE RADIOLOGISTS TO MAINTAIN WORKFLOW.
    • AS CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR, REPORTS DIRECTLY TO BOTH TYLER JUNIOR COLLEGE AND KILGORE COLLEGE PROGRAM WHEN REQUESTED. IN ADDITION, TECHNOLOGIST MAINTAINS ALL REQUIRED AND NECESSARY WRITTEN RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS AS REQUIRED BY THE ABOVE STATED PROGRAMS.
    • PREPARES PATIENT FOR SPECIALTY IMAGING PROCEDURES BY ACCURATELY ASSESSING PATIENT'S NEEDS AND PROVIDING PATIENT EDUCATION.
    • OPERATES SPECIALTY IMAGING EQUIPMENT (RADIOLOGIC, CT) FOR IMAGE PRODUCTION AND DOCUMENTATION OF IMAGES, PERFORMS QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENSURING OPTIMAL QUALITY IMAGES, AND PREPARES PATIENT'S IMAGES FOR INTERPRETATION BY RADIOLOGIST, PRACTICES ACCURATE AND TIMELY COMPLETION OF SCHEDULED AND UNSCHEDULED WORK TO MAXIMIZE PRODUCTIVITY.
    • ENSURES DEPARTMENT IS JOINT COMMISSION COMPLIANT. ADHERES TO INTERNAL CONTROLS ESTABLISHED FOR THE DEPARTMENT.
    • ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE IDENTIFICATION AND REDUCTION OF UNSAFE PRACTICES THAT COULD CAUSE HARM TO PATIENTS.
    • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

    Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

    • ABILITY TO NAVIGATE IN MEDITECH AND PACS.
    • COMPETENT IN REQUIRED RADIOLOGIC EXAMS PER ORDERING PHYSICIAN REQUIREMENTS.
    • SKILLED IN DIRECT PATIENT CARE.
    • ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH PATIENTS AND FAMILIES REGARDING EXAMS.

    Required Education / Experience:

    • GRADUATE FROM AN ARRT ACCREDITED SCHOOL IN RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY WITH AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE.

    Required Licenses / Certification:

    • LICENSED THROUGH ARRT TO PERFORM RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES. BOARD CERTIFIED IN CT. LICENSED THROUGH THE TEXAS STATE MEDICAL BOARD. CURRENT ON CPR/HEARTSAVER CERTIFICATION/TRAINING
