    Description
    The Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with physicians, provides medical care and treatment for internal medicine patients in the patient setting. Works within the collaborative practice agreement as agreed by the Nurse Practitioner and designated physician(s).

    • Deliver optimal care to trauma patients throughout the continuum of care

    • Provide clinical support to trauma surgeons/physicians in the Trauma Service

    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical needs of trauma patients

    • Collaborate with multiple disciplines to coordinate patient care

    • Provide education to patients, patients' family and clinical staff as appropriate

    • Consult with other specialists or health care providers accordingly

    • Communicates clinical information accurately and thoroughly to other providers in a timely manner

    • Continuously reviews medical data with the attending physician, maintains accurate progress notes and engages patients in the educational process

    • Assists in the acute resuscitative phase of trauma patients during trauma codes

    • Perform diagnostic, procedural and/or therapeutic care specific to trauma as defined by Scope of Practice

    Code and bill accurately per Mount Sinai Hospital's established protocol and procedure

    • Ensure that trauma patient records are complete and accurate and conform with related standards and regulations

    MINIMUM Education:
    • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be able to work under demanding time and work capacity constraints.
    • Must have excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
    • Must be willing to work rotating shifts including overnights.
    REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:
    • Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of Illinois.
    • CPR certification.
    • ACLS certification.
    • PALS certification - required within 90 days
    Preferred LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:
    • DEA licensure for controlled substances
    • Illinois controlled substance licensure
