NOTE:
Positions in this job classification may be offered on a 10 or 11

month basis - salary and paid time off for 10 or 11 month positions will be

Job Duties/Responsibilities Please note that the duties for this position will be performed on-site and

in-person.

A Roofer performs journey-level work in the maintenance, repair,

waterproofing and replacement of roof coverings. This may include such


tasks as:

  • Repairing and replacing roof coverings such as composition shingles,
tile, hot and cold build-up roofing, torch applied, single ply and sprayed in

place foam.

  • Repairs and replaces waterproofing systems.
  • Protects roofs by performing routine preventative maintenance and
condition surveys.

  • Performs simple carpentry and sheet metal work as needed in
connection with roofing and waterproofing activities.

  • Cleaning drains, leaderheads, gutters, and roof surfaces.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:

Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational

proficiency.


EXPERIENCE:
Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in roofing

installation, maintenance, and repair or five (5) years of experience in

roofing installation, maintenance, and repair, one (1) year of which must

have been at the journey-level.


SPECIAL:

  • A valid California Driver License.
  • Use of an automobile.
  • Extensive knowledge about the materials, tools, and practices used in
the roofing and waterproofing trade.

  • Knowledge of how to use hand torches, hot air welders, spray
equipment, air compressors, nail guns, and tile saws with knowledge of

various types of roofing and waterproofing construction.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety orders along with Microsoft Word and
Outlook.

  • Skills to proficiently cut, fit, lay, and place roofing materials; and coating
  • Ability to listen carefully and communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing.

  • Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces including the use
of ladders, scaffolds, and other related equipment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach overhead, crouch, kneel,
balance, push, pull, and lift up to 100 pounds when needed.

  • Stamina and dexterity to perform physically arduous labor outdoors at
extreme temperatures, occasionally amid noxious odors.

  • Ability to stay focused on tasks and diligently attends to details
necessary to complete assignments according to performance
