    ON-CALL RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM AIDE

    Type: Temporary, Seasonal, Part-time - Depending on candidate schedule

    Compensation: $22.00/hour + $1.00/hour shift differential for any swing shift, overnight shift, or weekend shift worked

    Hamilton Families: A dedicated organization striving to combat family homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since its establishment in 1985, Hamilton Families has been a key service provider to homeless families, offering programs designed to prevent homelessness, provide shelter, ensure stability, facilitate the return to permanent housing, and support the well-being of children experiencing homelessness. Operating across multiple sites in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.

    Program and Position Overview

    Hamilton Families manages 3 residential sites. The Shelter Program in the Tenderloin provides essential services to 50 families each night, offering a safe place to sleep, three daily meals, emergency beds, private rooms for families on the shelter waitlist, and vital social services. The Transitional Housing Program North of the Panhandle assists 20 families for 12-18 months. Holloway House in Ingleside accommodates up to 18 participants for 3-12 months, operated in collaboration with the Homeless Prenatal Program and the Department of Family and Children's Services.

    Participants in the residential programs receive comprehensive social services to address factors contributing to their homelessness, supporting them in achieving stable housing and economic self-sufficiency. Services include case management, referrals, employment training, access to health services, children's services, and assistance in securing permanent housing.

    As a Residential Counselor, reporting to the Coordinators/Manager, your primary goal is to provide a safe, healthy environment for program participants within the facility.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure shift coverage and supervise participants.
    • Maintain a safe, orderly atmosphere by enforcing program rules and procedures.
    • Model appropriate behavior in daily living skills and social interactions.
    • Limit facility access to authorized individuals.
    • Respond to emergencies and communicate effectively with staff and relevant personnel.
    • Provide reception duties and relay information professionally.
    • Conduct regular facility rounds, interact with participants, and provide necessary support.
    • Maintain records, files, and documentation clearly and accurately.
    • Promote a harmonious work environment in line with organizational policies.
    • Perform cleaning and kitchen duties as required.
    • Provide timely communication and shift coverage.
    • Complete designated site-specific tasks as directed.
    • Participate in required staff meetings and training.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

    • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.
    • Experience in residential facilities and working with homeless families preferred.
    • Able to work with individuals facing mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and other challenges.
    • Proficient in data entry and documentation.
    • Excellent communication skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
    • CPR and First Aid certification required within six months of hire.
    • Physically able to perform essential job functions and pass required clearances.
