    Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job


    • Provides clinical psychotherapeutic services to referred patients and consultative services to SEARHC staff and other providers. These services may include diagnostic interviews and assessments, individual, family and group psychotherapy, and other appropriate consultations.
    • Provides clinical supervision for staff by assisting in the development of staff knowledge and skills, promotes counselor self-awareness, and shares knowledge for practical use and professional growth.
    • Provides individual and group case consultation designed to help staff achieve mutually agreed upon goals and provides oversight of staff work to recognize and address potential issues and/or impairment.
    • Provides clinical support, encouragement, morale building, strengths-based assessment and needs, suggestions and advice on varying clinical approaches and models.
    • Incorporates the unique circumstances and needs of the SEARHC community of patients into the clinical supervisory relationship.
    • Participates with the local administrative leader on counselor and case manager clinical job performance.
    • Contributes to BH Division team discussions for process improvement, regulatory compliance training needs and other topics.
    • Champions, supports, and adheres to established organizational medical staff clinical therapeutic guidelines.
    • As a direct counselor, the Clinical Supervisor
    • Provides screening, assessment, diagnoses, treatment planning, direct therapy, continuing care, care coordination, client advocacy, and discharge planning for individuals/families; facilitate or co-facilitate group therapy, skills development classes, and psych-education groups; prepares, reviews, and modifies treatment plans and reviews per state requirements; provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
    • Uses tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
    • Maintains timely, complete, and accurate records per SEARHC policy and as required by laws, regulations, agency, and/or institutional procedures, including federal (HRSA & CMS), state (DHSS/DBH), accrediting bodies (TJC) and insurance company requirements.
    • Maintains all records and client information in a confidential manner according to SEARHC policy.
    • Coordinates and professionally collaborates with internal SEARHC departments and outside community resources to assure appropriate services are utilized for optimum client care.
    • Attends scheduled staff trainings/meetings and helps staff integrate new information/practices into delivery of treatment services.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Additional Details:
    Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required


    • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or other closely related Human Service field.
    • Licensed as a behavioral health provider or eligible for Alaska licensure as Psychological Associate, Licensed professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
    • Certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor I OR II (CDC I or CDCII) in Alaska or equivalent (i.e., MAC) preferred.
    Experience Required


    • 4 years of post-master's degree clinical experience in a patient care setting.
    • 2 years of clinical behavioral health supervisory experience preferred.
    Knowledge of


    • Knowledge of leadership, supervision, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Knowledge of Therapy and Counseling principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of behavioral disorders, impairment, and dysfunctionality.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, and training.
    Skills in


    • Skills in clinical assessment and the various forms of psychotherapies.
    • Skills in supervision to facilitate improved patient outcomes and programmatic effectiveness.
    • Excellent communication skills - the ability to integrate knowledge into practicalities and application.
    Ability to


    • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse workforce.
    • Ability to work under pressure with short timelines.
    • Ability to be responsive to the variety of special needs of patients by providing consistent leadership, stability, and professionalism.
