These positions are part of the MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE Doctoral Network "Multiphase Flow Optimization strategies" (MFLOP) with 16 partners from 8 countries.

The focus of the research is on simulation-based optimization of industrial multiphase flows using the adjoint method.

Position 3 (PhD from TUHH) will involve developing an efficient strategy for reducing transient SPH-results in an adjoint-based optimization framework, implementing the adjoint approach into an inhouse SPH-flow solver, and validating the method for Pelton-turbine geometries.

This position will also involve collaboration with TUHH and will be based at Andritz Hydro AG in Switzerland.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Applied Mathematics, or Scientific Computing, with a focus on computational fluid dynamics using finite-volume or SPH methods and fluid dynamic optimization approaches.

Experience in industrial CFD and knowledge of High-Performance Computing methods in CSE are preferred. Strong communication and team working skills, as well as fluency in English, are required. Experience with HPC-systems and coding in FORTRAN, PYTHON, and C++ is
