    Job Description

    The Electrical Engineer serves as a member of a team of technical Generation Engineering electrical experts. Provides technical guidance for engineering issues related to the maintenance and optimization of generation facilities. Leads engineering, procurement, and construction activities on power plant improvement projects. Leads technical analyses and performs evaluation of emergent technology in support of generation's technical, operational, and financial objectives.

    Interacts with various parts of the organization and provides technical insight and guidelines in expertise.

    DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES.

    Ø Leads engineering analysis, and provides recommendations, standards, and guidelines for improved operation, and maintenance practices, safety, reliability, procurement, construction, and testing on power plant improvement projects for company's fleet.

    Ø Leads, develops, and oversees project designs, specifications, and engineered solutions for various power plant equipment and systems.

    Ø Provides input to plant managers for annual budgets and spending requirements for maintenance, safety, and efficiency improvements of generation facilities.

    Ø Provides operating and maintenance standards to improve operating reliability and efficiency of generating facilities.

    Ø Coordinates project design with input from plant representatives, contractors, and equipment suppliers to provide functional and cost-effective solutions for generating unit needs.

    Ø Inspects and evaluates generating equipment and process conditions and prepares forward projections of operating and maintenance requirements to optimize production.

    Ø Where project oversight is given, it ensures that generation projects are functional, meet the intended design criteria and are completed on schedule and within budget.

    Ø Provides outage and routine maintenance support as needed, including planning, budget and business case development, parts/service, and procurement recommendations with respect to major plant equipment, protective schemes, and control systems.

    Ø Interacts with other Subject Matter Experts and other cross functional organizations to support various corporate initiatives.

    Ø Leads Root Cause Analysis for any impact incidences at generation facilities.

    Ø Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations in support of electrical planning and generation's technical, operational, and financial mission.

    Ø Develops presentations for senior management and recommends and implements changes for best practices.

    Ø Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.

    Ø Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

    v Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering degree. Must hold a PE license. In lieu of PE license, must have minimum of five (5) applicable years of experience years as a practicing engineer.

    v Applicable years of experience may substitute for a degree.

    § Four (4) years of related experience in power generation, transmission and/or distribution.

    § Extensive knowledge of major power plant components, controls, and protection systems, root cause analysis, and risk analysis.

    § Leadership role in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of technical issues.

    § Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.

    § Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

    § Self-starter with ability to make decisions and take necessary actions without specific direction.

    § Effective time management and organizational skills; keen multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail.

    § Ability to work well independently, and as part of a cross-functional team.

    § Valid U.S. Driver license with acceptable MVR history.
