Summary:
Inspect finished products to ensure they comply with legal, organizational or client specifications.

Uses a variety of hand and power abrasive brushes, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to deburr precision machined components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sets up and controls operation of computerized deburring and tooling machine to perform series of machining operations, such as drilling, chamfering, and deburring, on ballshaped plastic typing element for use in electric typewriters: Reads blueprints, job order, and tooling instructions to determine cutting tools and sequence of operations.
  • Positions and secures deburring and cutting tools onto holding fixtures of machine, using handtools.
  • Depresses switch to actuate machine and observes machining operation to detect feeding and tooling malfunctions as typing element is automatically fed through series of tooling stations.
  • Adjusts and changes machine tools to ensure deburring meets company specifications.
  • Repairs or replaces parts, such as cylinders and air lines, using handtools.
  • Inspects machined typing elements at discharge end of machine to ensure conformance to quality specifications, using gauges and microscope.
  • Notifies engineering personnel when corrective action is required.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

  • Measure parts using a variety of inspection equipment micrometers, calipers, gage pins and thread gages
Education and/or Experience

  • Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
