Welders at JBT in Lakeland will perform sanitary purge welding on stainless steel to make equipment for industrial food processing.
ResponsibilitiesA Typical Day In This Position Includes:
Major Responsibility #1:
Administrative Ensure jobs are processed by order of priority through proper use of dispatch or as instructed.
Provide detailed feedback for correction of error or discrepancies of documentation, BOM, routing and/or prints.
Complete and deliver documentation of welded parts to production scheduler.
Major Responsibility #2:
Welding Perform TIG welding on thin gauge stainless steel material.
Perform purge weld stainless steel tubing to provide sanitary quality weld.
Perform MIG welding on a variety of materials including aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel.
Perform self-inspection and test of parts upon completion of job.
Major Responsibility #3: Inventory, Parts, Equipment MaintenanceRaw materials and inventory used to complete welding process are accurately reported.
Equipment and tooling used during sheet metal process is thoroughly cleaned and stored at the end of each production day.
Equipment used in production is checked prior to and following use to ensure proper working condition. Required maintenance is performed as needed to maintain in good working condition. All equipment, parts and inventory problems are reported in a timely manner.Move and transport finished goods in the performance of job duties using proper material handling techniques.
Detect and report faulty or improper operation of equipment and/or questionable or unusual conditions.
Follow prescribed or standard safety rules and regulationsMaintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Report unsafe actions or work conditions immediately.
Major Responsibility #4:
Quality Control Detect and report defective material.
Complete documentation and inventory are submitted and approved by the inspection department.
Major Responsibility #5:
SafetyMeet all monthly safety requirements as established by the HSE DepartmentAttend all required site Safety Training sessions or complete and submit make-up materials to HSE.Comply with all JBT safety policies and guidelines.

High school diploma or equivalent2 years trades training and/or minimum one year experience in an industrial environmentKnowledge of blueprints and layout workAbility to perform TIG welding on thin gauge stainless steel materialAbility to purge weld stainless steel tubing to provide sanitary quality weldAbility to perform MIG welding on a variety of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steelMust have knowledge of standard weld symbolsMust have basic tools of the tradeAbility to use shop arithmetic including decimals and fractionsAbility to use judgment to perform and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and proceduresKnowledge of weld grinding & polishing techniques

PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be physically capable of:
