    The Partnership's upstream intervention model combines housing, rental assistance and crisis services with mental health, support and education programming to prevent people from losing their homes.

    Our services are available to New Yorkers of any ability, age, family type, gender, national origin, race and sexual orientation who are at risk of, experiencing or recovering from homelessness.

    The Opportunity


    Reporting to the VP of External Relations, the Director of Donor Relations will grow and manage the individual donor program in line with The Partnership's mission, values and services.

    Specifically, the Director will provide hands-on development and implementation of individual and major giving campaigns, create and manage a planned giving program and ensure the retention of existing, renewal of lapsed and securement of new supporters.

    A seasoned and meticulous self-starter and problem solver, the Director will have integrity, be deadline and timeline-focused, enjoy working collaboratively and possess the critical thinking and communication skills to be a trustworthy ambassador of the organization's mission and work.

    The position is integral to significantly growing individual support for our unique focus on homelessness prevention while ensuring excellent data management and donor care.

    Responsibilities


    • Proactively lead individual fundraising by serving as the subject matter expert to the senior team, working with the VP and Finance Department to set and monitor organizational, departmental and project budgets and developing detailed work and production plans to achieve goals and targets;
    • Create and implement a dynamic individual supporter strategy, including annual and monthly direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns; collaborate with the marketing team to set and follow an integrated marketing calendar that syncs appeals with program needs, ensure that creative collateral amplifies the organization's vision and voice and integrate best practices in social media marketing;
    • Develop and implement a Planned Giving Program, including identification, cultivation and solicitation of planned gift prospects, education of stakeholders and stewardship of current donors in establishing legacy giving for the organization;
    • Plan and conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate, solicit and secure new donors, and develop and direct a moves management system that offers gift size and frequency options to maximize supporter engagement;
    • Ensure donor care is a priority by maintaining accuracy and timeliness with all aspects of gift receipt, acknowledgments and donor requests, including development of and adherence to database management and gift processing policies and procedures, data reconciliation with the Finance team and the production of weekly and monthly reports for quality control and planning purposes;
    • Design and manage virtual and in-person fundraising and acknowledgment events, including coordination of staff, vendors and consultants and efficient use of technologies;
    • Serve as an organizational spokesperson with donors and other stakeholders;
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Skills and Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred. Superior writing skills are a requirement for this role;
    • 10+ years of leadership in development, with 5+ years in a senior role and 5 years of frontline major gift experience with demonstrated ability to close large individual gifts and expand donor base;
    • Must be able to work independently, and have proven experience with project management, developing and managing departmental and event budgets and overseeing and implementing income recording and reconciliation systems
    • Demonstrated ability to produce annual workplans and monthly reports, and experience researching information and writing and presenting analytical reports to inform planning and decision-making;
    • Demonstrated success in planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns;
    • Solutions-focused with an appetite for building and fixing systems, and an ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and thrive in a small, hands-on environment with multiple priorities;
    • A seasoned storyteller and networker who is motivated by the organization's mission and has an ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that secures donor support;
    • Demonstrated ability and experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders and commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in a multicultural environment;
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills, bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus;
    • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software and donor database systems; Raiser's Edge a plus.

    Compensation package includes a $100K salary (non-negotiable), generous PTO and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a company-funded HRA and transit).
