    Job Title: Donor Relations Specialist

    The Donor Relations Specialist (DRS) will play a key role in developing and executing a successful mid-level donor relations program for the NJ Division of The Salvation Army. This entails creating a detailed plan to engage, qualify, and retain mid-level donors, with the goal of increasing their contributions and potentially moving them into higher giving categories within the organization.

    Working closely with the Territorial Headquarters (THQ) Associate Director of Major Gifts, the DRS will strategize on how best to cultivate relationships with mid-level donors identified through direct mail and marketing initiatives. Utilizing various communication channels, including virtual and in-person interactions, the DRS will personalize outreach efforts to connect with donors effectively.

    Moreover, the DRS will collaborate with different levels of leadership within the organization to devise fundraising strategies that align with The Salvation Army's mission and exceed fundraising targets.


    Responsibilities:

    • Develop strategic plans to engage, educate, and solicit gifts from mid-level donors.
    • Manage a donor portfolio, nurturing relationships and communicating through various channels.
    • Analyze donor database to identify potential prospects.
    • Prioritize donors based on interest in deeper engagement.
    • Research donor financial capacity and capabilities.
    • Collaborate with teams to transition major gift prospects for cultivation.
    • Coordinate with various departments for fundraising efforts.
    • Implement strategies for annual giving campaigns and events.
    • Utilize client success stories in donor cultivation.
    • Collaborate with Marketing for mid-level prospect outreach.
    • Show appreciation and foster loyalty among donors.
    • Document donor activities in CRM database.
    • Participate in webinars and meetings with CRM team.
    • Act as a point of contact for donor inquiries and feedback.
    • Stay updated on best practices in donor management.
    • Represent The Salvation Army internally and externally.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
    • 2-3 years of fundraising experience in a non-profit setting.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable with donor interactions and financial discussions.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with diverse individuals.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
    • Passion for The Salvation Army's mission.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Previous Gift Officer experience.
    • Proficiency in data analytics.
    • Strong skills in office applications and CRM software.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Effective organizational and goal-setting abilities.
