The 21st Century William Wirt Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the William Wirt Educational programs.

The Educational programs offer afterschool, in-school and summer program components that consist of academic services, enrichment activities, Parent advocacy, healthy living/eating, computer literacy and community service events to 150 youth and 25 parents from William Wirt Middle School.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs and implements appropriate program services for atrisk (underserved/underrepresented) youth and develop associated processes and systems and systems that support programming.
  • Assist Education Programs Manager with grants and reporting requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders and community partners including but not limited to schools, nonprofit organizations, and private business.
  • Conduct recruitment process for AmeriCorps members.
  • Manage program databases ETO and 21 century reports and enrollment/dismissal of participant.
  • Develop and coordinate required professional development opportunities for members and consultants
  • Oversee the intake and referral systems for atrisk youth.
  • Assists with managing AmeriCorps members and conduct mid and end of year performance evaluations.
  • Manage consultants, parttime instructors and volunteers.
  • Serves as a spokesperson before various audiences in coordination with Education Program Manager, Deputy and Managing Director.
  • Assists in conceptualizing shortterm and longterm strategies and developing operational plans to ensure that all program objectives are met.
  • Utilize data to make well informed program decisions and assess impact of services.
  • Ensures documentation of all contacts with youth, family, members,
    LAYC staff and representatives of other agencies involved in the provision of services.
  • Adheres to all
    LAYC-MMYC personnel policies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • An Associate's degree preferred and two years of youth development experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of youth development experience; schoolbased experience is a plus.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of community and local resources.
Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • The willingness and desire to work independently, as well as collaboratively, and to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Complete criminal and child abuse/neglect clearances.
  • Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environment.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with culturally diverse populations.

  • LAYC/MMYC requires the COVID19 vaccine of all its employees. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination at the time of your interview and at your onboarding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs.

May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
