LAYC/MMYC's mission is to empower a diverse population of youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood, through multicultural, comprehensive, and innovative programs that address youths' social, academic, and career needs.

To achieve that mission, LAYC/MMYC provides services and opportunities to approximately 5,000 individuals annually to support academic achievement, promote healthy behaviors, and guide youth toward successful adulthood.

LAYC/MMYC also conducts advocacy and public policy work to broaden opportunities for youth.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and share outreach and engagement strategies and good retention practices across all cohorts in biweekly specialist meetings with the team.
  • Document team's recruitment and retention challenges and overall progress across all sites while working toward new strategies.
  • Facilitate sessions for two cohorts during implementation seasons.
  • Build relationships and maintain regular communication with youth, parents, schools, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate recruitment goals with team before each recruitment visit at schools.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is entered into ETO data system, Child Trends data systems (REDCap), and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Work with the Program Coordinator to maintain the budget, oversee documentation, and Data keeping as Grant requires.
  • Assist in the Sexual and Reproductive Team effort to attend Community outreach events.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years of youth development experience; schoolbased experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with youth in a group educational setting; background in conducting participatory learning programs a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by bilingual youth in the community.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships with youth.
  • Organizational and time management skills to balance multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of community and local resources.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings for school events.
  • Bilingual or fluent/proficient: English and Spanish required.
  • Complete criminal and child abuse/neglect clearances.
  • Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environment.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with culturally diverse populations.
  • LAYC/MMYC requires the COVID19 vaccine of all its employees. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination at the time of your interview and at your onboarding.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs.

May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
