Duties:


  • You will serve as a senior legal advisor to NAWCWD personnel and a firstline supervisor for the NAWCWD Office of General Counsel Group's general attorney team.
  • You will provide professional legal advice to NAWCWD in the fields of commercial, business, acquisition law, civilian personnel law, fiscal law, standards of conduct, environmental law, or Freedom of Information and Privacy Act matters.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications:

  • The position will be filled under the Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) personnel demonstration system, which is a pay for performance system using pay bands with salary ranges. The position will be filled in the Business and Program Management Pay Band at the NM-05 (GS-15 equivalent) level, which encompasses the salary range equivalent of GS-14 through GS-15. To be eligible for selection, applicants must have at least five
- and one-half years of successful, professional relevant legal experience in one or more of the practice areas identified above. Experience in civilian personnel law or contract law is required. Pay will be commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications, funding availability, and STRL pay setting guidelines.

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education:


The incumbent must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S.

Commonwealth, U.S territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.


Additional information:


The position is that of Supervisory General Attorney within the Office of General Counsel Group, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD).

This position may be located in either China Lake, California (preferred), or Point Mugu, California (alternate location).

NAWCWD is a field activity of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), providing research, development, test, evaluation, engineering and fleet support for Navy and Marine Corps weapons and weapons systems.

This supervisory position will report to the Counsel, NAWCWD.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
